Our "I can" statements for the week of 4/23/18:
Math: I can understand fractions: the numerator is a sum
of parts of a whole. I can add and subtract fractions as
parts of a whole. I can add and subtract fractions with
like denominators in word problems. I can compare
fractions by finding a common denominator, using
benchmarks, and drawing models. I can use >, <, or
= symbols. I can create fraction equations.
Religion: I can demonstrate proper etiquette and rituals
of the Mass. I can list the Beatitudes and explain the
meaning of each. I can explain how the Beatitudes are a
guide to happiness both in this life and in the life to come.
Reading/English Language Arts: I can spell grade-level
vocabulary; I can read with accuracy and fluency. I can
plan, revise, and edit my writing with help from peers
and adults. I can compare and contrast themes from
Social Studies: I can explain Ohio's role during the anti-
slavery movement and the contributions from Ohio to
the Underground Railroad.
Science: I can understand that every organism in an
ecosystem plays an important role. I can identify some
effects that would cause an ecosystem to change slowly
over time. I can identify some effects that would cause an e
ecosystem to change quickly. I can explain how an animal's
behavior is a result of the ecosystem it lives in. I can
explain the difference between biotic and abiotic.
Homework for the week:
Monday: Scholastic News Magazine (if not finished in class)
Tuesday: Multi-paragraph essay packet
Monday: Write spelling words 3 times each - List 29
Thursday: Spelling test tomorrow
Monday: Famous Ohioan project is due on April 30th.
